Welcome back to the Ivory Bride Blog, where we share stories about our real brides and their gorgeous weddings! In today's post, our real bride shares all about their crystal-clear wedding vision and how it turned into the most perfect wedding day they could imagine. The vision was for a candlelit fall wedding that blended timeless tradition with bold, personal twists. Picture this — a church glowing with candlelight, a bride in a classic white gown and Doc Martens, and a walk down the aisle to Blink-182. Every detail was rooted in love and connection, from longtime family friends catering the reception to close pals singing throughout the night. What started as a “nontraditional traditional” vision turned into a magical, unforgettable celebration — one that perfectly reflected who they are. Keep reading to hear how it all came together (including a few tears and a lot of joy) and her top tip for future brides!

By our real bride, Victoria:

What was the vision for your wedding?

A fall candlelit wedding. We knew from the start exactly what we wanted. We wanted to know what I was calling the most nontraditional traditional wedding… in a church but at night lit with candles. A big white dress but with Doc Martens and a bride walking down the aisle to Blink 182. We chose all our vendors by love and friendship. The officiant had known the bride since childhood and the caterers for the reception were close family friends who said “we don’t do weddings but we would be honored to do yours… and this is how we picture the event” they might do weddings now lol the band was close friends who sang for both the reception and the ceremony and helped make the dream come true.

How did it go the day-of?

The day was perfect. No rain! And that’s a miracle in SE Alaska for November. The candles were beautiful, and no one missed or noticed the absence of flowers. Our friend Dan Powers, who performed an autistic styling of Blink 182’s first date, brought the vision to life and brought everyone to tears. The balance between tradition and non-tradition was seamless. The food at the reception was amazing and had huge portions that showed the out of state guests how it was done. The amount of love in the room was endless.

What is your #1 tip to future brides?

Don’t bend to others for your day. We battled with some family members over the guest list, over the time of the ceremony, and over the month we chose. Just every detail, someone had an opinion. I was so stressed about people pleasing. But in the end, I was so glad I didn’t bend and stuck to what we wanted for our day. And once it was brought to life everyone had fun and had zero complaints.
