Stella + Jackson

Wedding Date:

August 29

Location:

Arbor Crest, Spokane, WAStella and Jackson's wedding was everything a summer winery celebration should be: bright florals, gold details, and a timeless feel from start to finish. Her bridesmaids wore satin mocha brown that made the blooms pop, the groomsmen wore black, and the flower girls stole the show in bright pink and orange dresses to match the florals.

The Vision

"Elegant winery wedding with bright summer florals, gold decor and timeless everything." The mocha satin and black color palette let the florals take center stage, and the flower girls' pink and orange dresses tied it all together.

The Day-Of

"Our wedding day was perfect!" The 5pm ceremony meant the sun came through the trees right as Stella and Jackson said "I do." She described it as heaven on earth during their vows. They kept things traditional with no first look, then slipped away for private vows after the ceremony (Stella gives it a 10/10 recommendation). Jackson had secretly practiced for weeks to learn "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel on the piano. He played and sang it to her, and it was the highlight of her day. After family photos, their grand entrance, and a summer-perfect BBQ dinner, the couple stepped away for sunset photos. It was another favorite moment: a few deep breaths together and a chance to take in the reality of being married.Their first dance was to "All Your'n" by Tyler Childers, and the whole crowd joined in for "Mr. Brightside" to close out the night. Stella was overwhelmed by how loved and supported they are, so they saved the last five minutes for a private dance to "And It's Still Alright" by Nathaniel Rateliff. Lots of happy tears. They made their grand exit with bubbles and drove off in a Corvette borrowed from a family friend, starting their new adventure as Mr. and Mrs. Henkle on the way to two weeks in Italy.

Stella's #1 Tip for Future Brides

Skip the first look if you can."The anticipation that builds by waiting to see your husband for the first time when you walk down the aisle is a feeling you do not want to miss!" Stella got to see Jackson's authentic reaction, and she says she'll never forget how excited he was to marry her.Worried about fitting in private vows without a first look? Don't be. After signing their marriage license, Stella and Jackson took 10 minutes alone to share their vows, and it was the perfect moment to soak in the fact that they were married. Her other advice: "Your wedding day can be overwhelming so make sure you two never leave each others side and take in every moment." It goes by way too fast!

What was the vision for your wedding?:

Elegant winery wedding with bright summer florals, gold decor and timeless everything. The girls were in a satin mocha brown that made the florals pop and the boys were in black. Our flower girls had the most perfect bright pink and orange dresses on to match the florals.

How did it go on the day-of?:

Our wedding day was perfect! Our ceremony was at 5pm and the sun came through the trees at the perfect time for saying "I do". It was heaven on earth during our vows! We then took a moment to do private vows after the ceremony since we kept it traditional and did not do first looks (10/10 recommend). Jackson learned how to play "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel on the piano and played it and sang it to me after we did our private vows and it was the highlight of my day! He had been practicing in secret for a few weeks. After lots of family photos, our grand entrance, and dinner (we had BBQ it was such a good summer choice) we finally got to step away for sunset photos. This was another highlight of our day because it is another moment to take a few breaths with each other and cherish alone time and the reality that you are now married! Your wedding day can be overwhelming so make sure you two never leave each others side and take in every moment - it goes by way too fast. Our first dance song was "All Your'n" by Tyler Childers and our last song with the entire group was "Mr. Brightside". I got very overwhelmed by how LOVED and supported we are by all of the people around us and it was the perfect way to end the evening by saving our last five minutes to do a private dance. We danced to "And It's Still Alright" by Nathaniel Rateliff and it was a beautiful moment for Jackson and I to soak in how LOVED we are by so many family and friends and how blessed we are to have an army behind us (Lots of happy tears)! We then took our grand exit with bubbles and drove away in a Corvette that a family friend was kind enough to let us borrow. It was an epic start to our new adventure as Mr and Mrs Henkle on our way to Italy for two weeks!

What is your #1 tip to future brides?:

My #1 tip is to skip the first look if you can. The anticipation that builds by waiting to see your husband for the first time when you walk down the aisle is a feeling you do not want to miss! You get to see his authentic reaction and my husband's reaction was one I will never forget. I got to see how truly excited he was to marry me. The love that we have for each other was displayed in the most beautiful way because we waited to see each other. If you are worried about private vows and how you will get them done without a first look, don't be! After we signed our marriage license we took 10 minutes to ourselves and shared our private vows. It ended up being a perfect moment to soak in the fact we just got married!
