Michelle + Hank
November 4, 2023 at the Historic Davenport Hotel in Spokane, WA
Welcome to the Ivory Bride Blog, where we share stories about our real brides and their gorgeous weddings! In today's post, Rebecca and Hank share how they dreamed of a celebration as grand and joy-filled as their love — and their wedding delivered just that. With nearly 250 guests gathered at the iconic Historic Davenport Hotel, their big day was a beautiful blend of timeless elegance, personal touches, and unforgettable moments. From childhood photos on table numbers to dancing under twinkling lights, every detail reflected the couple’s story. Rebecca’s advice to future brides? Stay calm, soak it in, and remember: the day is perfect simply because it’s yours.
What was the vision for your wedding?
From the start, Hank and I knew we wanted a BIG wedding with all of our friends and family present. It was important to us that our venue be spacious enough to host our nearly 250 guests. The Historic Davenport Hotel in downtown Spokane, WA was the perfect site for our wedding ceremony and reception. The Hotel is stunning and unique. We loved being able to stay at the hotel, too. Many of our guests also stayed there! For our wedding colors, we decided on champagne and greenery. I knew I wanted a dress with a low back and found the perfect one at Honest and Ivory! I loved the ideas for “small touches” that I found on Pinterest. Our table numbers featured pictures of my husband and I at different ages (1-26 years old). We were able to showcase our loved ones and family legacies on photo tables. There were so many fun ideas for desserts and late night snacks. We had fun lights on the dance floor. I loved the inspiration I found on Pinterest and other sites. Family, friends, and wedding professionals also provided amazing ideas. We also incorporated things we remembered from other weddings we’d attended as guests.
How did it go the day-of?:
My wedding day was truly the best day of my life! I felt so very loved, surrounded by my family and friends. I felt calm and confident the morning of the wedding. It was so special to get ready with my mom, sister, grandma, aunts, future MIL and SIL, and bridesmaids. I remember just soaking in every moment I could. The day was already going by so fast! I didn’t feel nervous until just before the first look with my dad and then Hank. The nerves quickly turned into emotional excitement, two moments truly full with so much love. Our ceremony was everything I could have dreamed it to be. It took place in the beautiful Marie Antoinette Ballroom. Our officiant - Hank’s uncle - crafted an unbelievably personal ceremony dialogue. I was genuinely so happy and smiled the whole ceremony. The reception was the best party I’ve ever been to. We ate, we danced, we socialized, we smiled, we laughed, we were THROWN IN THE AIR by silly friends. It was the BEST! I wish every day that I could experience it over and over again. It was one-thousand-percent the best night of my life.
What is your #1 tip to future brides?:
Try to adopt a calm demeanor on your wedding day. Feeling relaxed, I was really able to enjoy the whole day and wedding experience. You have worked so hard to plan this big day. It is going to be perfect because it’s YOUR day.
