Meagan + Jake

The Vision

Meagan's wedding day vision was simple: boho, fair, and full of whimsy. And it came together beautifully. "I didn't know exactly what I wanted, but I had a good idea, and our venue was the perfect fit," she shared. Keeping things local was a priority for Meagan and her now-husband Jake — every single vendor was based in Missoula or the surrounding area, and each one brought their A-game. A special shout-out goes to their photographers, who captured every meaningful moment of the day.

The Day-Of

Meagan's morning started with a project close to her heart: building personalized centerpieces by hand. An avid collector of antique books, she placed a classic book at the center of each arrangement — a sweet nod to her and Jake's shared love of reading. The centerpieces themselves were crafted from wood cut from trees that once stood outside Meagan's childhood home, making the process even more meaningful. Jake happily let her take the lead on decor, as long as they agreed on the final look together.

From there, it was on to hair and makeup, where Meagan's stylist Jen nailed the "tastefully wild" look she was hoping for — natural curls woven through with wildflowers. But the moment Meagan calls her favorite of the entire night wasn't in the plans of most weddings: she and Jake surprised their guests with a fully choreographed waltz for their first dance. Months of practice went into it, and even with a few missteps along the way, it turned out to be one of the most special moments of the day.

Meagan's #1 Tip for Future Brides

"This is so cliché, but seriously, the day goes by SO FAST. If you can, make time to be present with your closest friends and your fiancé. Take some time to ground yourself in the moment. Some things will go wrong, they always do, but don't let that pull you away from the joy. This is your wedding! Enjoy it."

What was the vision for your wedding?:

Boho, Fair, Whimsy : ) I think it ended up pretty much how I envisioned it! I didn’t know exactly what I wanted, but I had a good idea and our venue was the perfect fit. It was really important to us that we chose local vendors so all of the vendors were from Missoula or the surrounding area : ) And they were all INCREDIBLE! Special shout out to our photographers who gave us the perfect memory of so many special moments.

How did it go on the day-of?:

My day started with putting together some personalized centerpieces which were really special to me : ) I love collecting antique books so I decided I wanted a classic book at the middle of each centerpiece. The centerpieces themselves were cut from trees that used to stand outside my childhood home, so I really enjoyed putting that part together, and Jake was kind enough to let me take the lead on decor as long as we both agreed in the end. We are both book lovers so it worked out great haha. From there I went straight into hair and makeup which really turned out so perfect. I was hoping for a “tastefully wild” look because I have natural curls with wildflowers throughout, my stylist, Jen, was perfect! Something that was really special and probably not typical is that we had a choreographed waltz as our first dance. We practiced for MONTHS and even thought we still made mistakes, it was such a special moment and probably my favorite part of the whole night.
