Madelynn + Riley
Wedding Date & Location:
October 5th, 2024, at Sweetwater Ranch in Ellensburg, WA
Madelynn dreamed of a wedding that blended boho and rustic charm, overflowing with vibrant colors and meaningful floral details. While she initially pictured herself in a long-sleeved gown, that vision changed the moment she tried on her dream dress at Honest in Ivory — complete with whimsical puffy sleeves that felt like pure magic. As someone who grows her own dahlias, incorporating them into the wedding florals was a non-negotiable, and they became a bright, heartfelt thread throughout the day. To celebrate her and her husband’s favorite season, she added playful touches of fall — like pumpkins — and made sure her long-searched-for vintage peacock wicker chairs created the ultimate boho backdrop.
On the wedding day, everything felt as magical as it looked. The weather in Ellensburg, usually breezy, was perfectly calm — a rare gift that allowed every detail to shine. Madelynn’s bridesmaids wore rich blue velvet dresses inspired by her love of hunting Ellensburg blues, weaving even more of her personality into the celebration. She and her husband also personalized the day with a macaron tower alongside their cake, signature drinks named after their story, and the meaningful veil her seamstress created from extra gown fabric. Every moment — from the vibrant florals to the smallest, heartfelt details — came together to create an unforgettable celebration.
Her advice for future brides? Slow down and savor every moment. “Our wedding day went by so quickly, and I wish I could relive it again and again,” Madelynn says.
What was the vision for your wedding?:
My wedding vision was a blend of boho and rustic charm, filled with vibrant colors and flowers, and it turned out exactly like my Pinterest board! Initially, I thought I wanted a long-sleeved dress, but that changed the moment I tried on my magical dress at Honest in Ivory—the unique puffy sleeves completely won me over. The floral details were especially meaningful since I grow my own dahlias, and I wanted to showcase my love for flowers. While I adore the elegance of white weddings, I wanted ours to be bursting with color. Since fall is our favorite season, I incorporated pumpkins, adding a fun, seasonal touch that made everything pop even more! One detail I was determined to have was vintage peacock wicker chairs, and I searched high and low to find them. In the end, every element came together perfectly, and the day was absolutely magical!
How did it go on the day of?:
Our wedding day was truly magical, and I wish I could relive it again and again! It all went by so quickly, and in the whirlwind of it all, there are so many little moments I wish I could slow down and savor. Every detail made the day so special, and the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. If you’ve ever been to Ellensburg, you know how rare a calm day is—there are usually more windy days than not. But on our wedding day, there wasn’t a breeze in sight. It was honestly the best day ever. I grow my own dahlias, so having our florist include them in all the wedding flowers was incredibly meaningful to me. For the bridesmaids, I chose stunning blue velvet dresses, inspired by one of my favorite hobbies: hunting for Ellensburg blues. I wanted the rich color to reflect that special part of me. We also personalized the day with some of our favorite things. One of them was desserts! We love macarons, so in addition to our beautiful wedding cake, we had an amazing macaron tower that added a unique touch. Our signature drinks were another special detail, each named to represent us and our story. And, of course, the vintage peacock wicker chairs I searched high and low for were everything I imagined—they added the perfect boho vibe. My dress was absolutely amazing, and I’m so happy it was the one I chose. Since I’m only 4’11”, it required a lot of alterations. The seamstress was able to take the excess fabric from the bottom of the dress and add it to a plain vintage veil, which was so special. Not only did it match my dress perfectly, but it also gave the veil a little weight, helping it stay down in case a breeze came through. Every element came together beautifully, making our day truly unforgettable!
What is your #1 tip to future brides?:
Don’t wait on anything. It’s better to be early than to panic because you forgot to book someone or order something.
