Ashley + Aaron

Planning a wedding is an exciting time for any couple, filled with anticipation and dreams of the perfect day. In this blog post, we hear from a bride who had a clear vision for her wedding day and how she brought it to life. From the venue to the dress, every detail was carefully chosen to reflect the couple's style and personality. But as much as she planned and prepared, the bride knows that the day itself goes by in a flash. Her number one piece of advice for future brides? Enjoy every moment and don't get too caught up in perfection, because at the end of the day, it's all about celebrating love.
Ashley looked like a DREAM in our Skylar gown by Wtoo. This stunning ballgown has gorgeous tiered layers of pleated tulle for a full, voluminous skirt. Horsehair trim helps add body and depth to this stunning skirt. The bodice has a lovely sweetheart neckline and gorgeous exposed boning. This gown is simple, stunning, and so romantic.
By our real bride, Ashley:
What was the vision for your wedding?
I've had a pretty specific vision for my wedding for years. Of course, once I was actually engaged my vision evolved and I wanted to incorporate both of our styles. I wanted the wedding to feel like OUR wedding and not a copy of anyone else's. I wanted it to have a romantic/boho feel with a little glam. Nothing too matchy or stiff, very soft and woodsy which is exactly how mine and Aaron's style is day-to-day! Our venue, Quail Run Ranch, created a new ceremony space this year (after we had already booked them) that was absolutely PERFECT. I couldn't have designed it better myself for what my vision was. And the venue owner Sonya put together the most beautiful altar arrangement based on a picture I showed her on Pinterest. I also knew from day one I wanted pampas grass, I fell in love with it before it really exploded everywhere. It's not in season in mid-June, but fortunately, my friend Tessa, who was one of my bridesmaids, had A TON of it growing in her yard. She cut it down at the end of last summer and preserved over 80 stems for me for a year and brought them all the way to Spokane from the Tri-Cities!
I had always dreamed of a mermaid-style dress and tried several on but nothing felt right. When I saw my dress featured on Honest In Ivory's Instagram page (before they even opened!) I just knew that would be my dress. Living in Florida, I looked for some boutiques around here that might carry it, but ultimately knew I wanted to buy my dress back home in Spokane, at a local boutique with all my best friends around!
How did it go the day-of?
Our wedding day went as smoothly as it possibly could have! We knew planning a mid-June wedding in Newport was going to be hit or miss in terms of weather, but we got insanely lucky! Sunny and in the low 80s, it was absolutely perfect. We had family and friends from all over the country and it could not have been a more beautiful day to have an outdoor wedding. Aaron being in the military, we knew this day would very likely be the one time most of our friends and family would be together in one place and that was SO special for us. It was an emotional day for me as well, both of my parents had passed away within the last 8 years, so I knew I'd be crying quite a bit. But we had touches to honor them, my something blue was a handkerchief my friend made out of one of my dad's old blue shirts and my bouquet had charms hanging on it with both of my parents handwriting, a gift from my sister and maid of honor, for my bridal shower. I felt them with me all day long and while it was emotional, it was all the good emotions. My big brother walked me down the aisle and I know my parents were so proud. All of Aaron's family flew or drove in from different states around the country and we were so touched so many people made the trip to celebrate our special day with us. Everything from beginning to end went off without any issues. Or if there were any, we were too happy to even notice!
What is your #1 tip to future brides?
Every bride says this... but it goes FAST. Enjoy every moment. Most importantly, don't get too wrapped up in the day being perfect because no matter what happens it will be perfect because the day is all about celebrating spending the rest of your life with the person you love.
