Alyssa + Jake

The author of this blog post envisioned a simple, rustic wedding with a purple color scheme. She found the perfect venue that needed little embellishment, and her florist provided amazing flowers. The author wanted her bridesmaids to be comfortable so they were allowed to pick their own dresses. On the day of the wedding, everything flowed effortlessly, and the author was able to enjoy her loved ones and amazing food. The author and her husband opted for cheesecake instead of a traditional cake, and they also incorporated non-traditional elements such as jumping the broom. The author advises future brides to find a go-to person who loves little details and to trust them. Additionally, she advises future brides to take photos, enjoy little moments, and include those who are most important to them.
Alyssa was STUNNING in our Rosalee gown by TiAdora. This is a beautiful A-line gown with a soft English netting tulle skirt that drapes beautifully. The bodice has a lovely sweetheart neckline with gorgeous floral lace that cascades down into the skirt. Dainty illusion straps and a gorgeous low back complete this stunning, delicate, romantic wedding gown.

What was the vision for your wedding?
Simplistic, rustic...my Pinterest board didn't change much other than my dress lol. Once I saw my venue, I knew I didn't need a whole lot to make my day amazing. I love purple and my florist provided the most amazing flowers to accent the day. I knew I wanted my bridesmaids to be comfortable so they got to pick their own dresses. I think everything came together perfectly. I really didn't want an over the top wedding, the views of my venue were so picture perfect and I had the best bridal party! I lucked out in the friend department too, I had so much help on the day of.
How did it go the day-of?
Talk about a blur!!! My day went so quickly but effortlessly!! I had an amazing behind the scenes team that made decisions that kept the flow going without me knowing anything was wrong. Or better said, they did it before I knew something was needed. I got to just enjoy my loved ones and amazing food!!!
We aren't cake people so I had a friend gift us cheesecake for the wedding, and it was AMAZING...I'm so very happy we did that instead of traditional cake...and the guests didn't complain either, lol.
My most important touch was the tribute to my Papa Bear. We got married on Father's Day and my dad passed away in 2016 shortly after Jake and I started dating. My dad's table was a perfect spot to stop by and pay respects and enjoy some great photos. My mom found pictures of my dad and I dancing together at my 21st birthday party, and having those at the table was a perfect way to include him in the father/daughter dance. I had 4 of the most important men in my life stand in for my Dad that day, it was emotional but perfect My Godfather, my brother, my dad's best friend from Florida, and my Father In-Law.
Another tradition that is non-traditional was that we incorporated jumping the broom. This is an African tradition and I was proud to include this on our wedding day.
What is your #1 tip to future brides?
Find your go-to person that loves little details and just TRUST them!! The only thing I told my ladies was to spread out the succulents and put a mason jar with the extra flowers out on the other tables. I did not decide on my center pieces per-say and they were perfect...and honestly, I doubt anyone really paid attention to them lol (minus the succulents they could take home).
Also, take the photos, enjoy the little moments. Laugh, cry and include those most important to you...it's your day and it really is over in the blink of an eye.
