In this blog post, we get to hear from a bride who had a very clear vision for her wedding day: a romantic celebration that felt true to her and her husband-to-be. Originally planning a rustic, Wisconsin wedding, a change of plans led the couple to get married in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where they have built their life together. The day itself was hot and smoky, but filled with love and special touches like a custom-built arch made by the bride's father. In this post, the bride shares her top tip for future brides, and it's all about the importance of having a supportive bridal party to keep you calm and focused on what really matters.
Our real bride Abby looked absolutely dreamy in our Honor gown by Essense of Australia. This is a gorgeous A-line dress with a twist - the lining is a geometric sequin pattern and has a fun slit as well. The layers of tulle overlay cascade into a gorgeously soft train. The bodice has beautiful floral appliqués and has beaded edging along the v-neckline as well as the side cutouts. An open back with a v-shape and dainty buttons completes this gorgeous gown.
By our real bride, Abby:
What was the vision for your wedding?
I wanted a very romantic wedding that felt like us. Originally my fiancé (now husband) and I were going to get married in Wisconsin where most of our friends and family are and do a very rustic, romantic wedding. I wasnt in love with the idea but I liked it. My parents visited Coeur dAlene and fell in love with the lake and offered to help with our wedding. Getting married in Coeur dAlene felt so much more special because its where my husband and I have truly built our life. We were so grateful for all of our family and friends who were willing to travel across the country for us!
How did it go the day-of?
Our wedding day was hot! North Idaho had experienced record triple digit temperatures and we still had lingering smoke from the forest fires. Since our whole wedding was on one of the Lake CDA Cruises my husband and I chose to do a private reveal on Tubbs Hill since there was no way to prevent him from seeing me until I walked down the aisle. We also did family and wedding party pictures before the wedding so that we could just enjoy eating, dancing and spending time with family while we were on the boat. Our wedding photographer, Ashley Huft, was AMAZING! Not only did she take gorgeous pictures but she was so helpful at keeping everything running smoothly since we did have to pay close attention to the time because we only had 3 hours on the boat. One of the most special touches to our wedding was the arch we got married under that my dad built specifically for our wedding day. He poured hours of love into making it and it turned out amazing. The day was perfect and after our grand exit off the boat we kept the party going by taking the whole wedding to the bars in downtown Coeur dAlene!
What is your #1 tip to future brides?
You WILL get stressed out and emotional. While I was getting my wedding makeup done, I was getting phone calls that there werent enough chairs on the boat to fit all of our guests. Your bridesmaids are your crew for keeping you calm and centered. I kept my bridal party small and surrounded myself with my girls who knew me inside and out and could remind me to take a deep breath, and that no matter what the most important part of the wedding day is who youre getting married to.
