By our real bride, Emmi:
What was the vision for your wedding?
We wanted a laid-back and warm feeling with close friends and family. Our goal was casual and cozy. We knew exactly what we wanted from the beginning. I had been to Double Arrow Lodge most winters to cross-country ski growing up and remembered staying a few Christmases at their quaint rustic lodges and wanted everyone to know how that feels. It was a perfect way for guests from out to town to get to know the beautiful state of Montana and where I grew up. Our vendors were mostly picked from word of mouth and friends of friends!
How did it go the day-of?
We are fairly untraditional in that it was very important for us to get ready early to hang out with the big bridal party and each other before the seriousness of the wedding began. After hair and makeup were finished, the bridesmaids were able to sit and eat lunch (and drink a beer) overlooking the mountains and Jeff, so we were able to mingle. It was super special and non-traditional and that was very much what we wanted. I had the best bridesmaids and maid of honor (twin sister) who kept everything running smoothly, and kept me fed, and a photographer who was so chill but direct enough to keep the family in line. We were able to sneak in our junior bridesmaids and flower girl nieces for a picture before heading out for the big moment which was so special. My brothers officiated and I had multiple people tell me how they should take their work “on the road”. They were so amazing and encouraged us and guests to really be in the moment. We had only acoustic guitar playing during the ceremony and cocktail hour and it really allowed for the perfect opportunity to mingle. The weather was absolutely stunning despite the wildfires and thunderstorms a few days prior. We are so lucky to have had the family and friends support - most of whom traveled - we had about 15 states represented at a perfect, tiny Montana lodge in the mountains.
What is your #1 tip to future brides?
My #1 is to try to be in the moment as much as possible. Schedule 10-20 min to be with your partner alone sometime during the big day (besides taking photos) to take it all in together. Seriously! Right before your entrance as a newly married couple is a great time to take a moment together. You brought everyone together and it’s time to soak it in with no stress.
