Braiden + Zac
(August 27, 2022 in Spokane, WA)
In this blog post, the writer shares their vision for their wedding and how it all came together on the day-of. The vision was modern and minimalistic with pops of color in the floral arrangements and greenery. They also provide tips for future brides, including the recommendation to have a day-of coordinator and to remember to enjoy the moment as it goes by quickly. Overall, the day was stress-free and fun, and they wouldn't have changed a single thing. The vendors they worked with were outstanding, and they highly recommend them to anyone planning an event.
By our real bride, Braiden:
What was the vision for your wedding?
I started a Pinterest board in middle school, so it has changed significantly over the years, but as soon as Zac proposed in May of 2021, I was busy going through my boarding and removing items that didn't fit my style and what I wanted anymore. My board was filled with many metal pieces with very simple décor. The vision was modern and minimalistic, with only having color in the floral arrangements and using lots of greenery to add additional color in places. Everything turned out exactly how I envisioned it, and I could not have been happier. I knew what I wanted; the hardest part was figuring out how to make it all work out and not blow your budget.
Our vendors were the easiest part. Right away, I knew I wanted to work with Jaime Denise Photography simply by following her on Instagram. I loved all of the work she had done, and she is such a sweet soul to work with. From there, I researched other vendors and received recommendations from Jaime when I needed to figure out who to look to for certain items. I researched each vendor thoroughly, looking through their social media and websites and reading lots of their reviews. We even picked our venue site unseen. I knew from the photos it was exactly what I wanted. Each of our vendors was outstanding, and I highly recommend them to anyone for any event, not just a wedding.
How did it go the day-of?
The day was perfect! Looking back, I wouldn't change a single thing. There were a few hiccups along the way, but they were minor things that, in the grand scheme of things, didn't matter. The entire day was stress-free and fun. We decided to do a first look and private vows. We are both very private people, allowing us to say how we truly felt without the awkwardness or pressure of having all of our guests present. It was nice to have this extra time to see each other and spend more time together. We then took wedding party photos at Manito Park and returned to Timber's on Pacific to have our family photos taken. I loved this because it allowed us time after the ceremony to spend more time with our guests and not have to take more photos. The reception was one big party. We had a photo booth that was a hit with our guests, and everyone seemed to have so much fun dancing and taking photos. One of the most fun things we did was called DJ vs. Photographer, where we had one song to go around to each table and snap a photo with all of our guests. It was so much fun, and we got a photo with everyone who attended.
What is your #1 tip for future brides?
If you can make room in your budget for a day of coordinator, I recommend doing so. Kim Culberson was so incredible to have onsite that day. Any small item we needed, she had or had some solution to fix it. The day would not have gone so smoothly if it wasn't for her. We met with Kim twice before the wedding to discuss logistical items, and she covered any items we forgot and pushed us to nail down plans. Also, remember it is your and your husband's day. Try not to stress about everyone else and have fun and enjoy the moment. The day truly flies by, and each moment throughout is so special.
