Welcome back to the Ivory Bride Blog! At our bridal shop, we love showcasing the unique and beautiful stories of our real brides, and Megan's wedding is a perfect example. Megan envisioned a wedding that was simple yet elegant, trusting in carefully selected vendors to bring her vision to life. Her focus on finding vendors that resonated with her and her partner's personalities paid off in the most magical way. The day itself was a dream come true, filled with meaningful moments, from an intimate ceremony officiated by her uncle to golden hour photos that captured the love and joy of the day. Megan's story is a testament to the power of thoughtful planning and staying true to what matters most.

What was the vision for your wedding?

Throughout the wedding planning process, we envisioned our wedding as simple, but elegant. We spent a lot of time researching vendors that meshed well with our personalities, while also trusting we could rely on them to make our vision come to life!

How did it go the day-of?

Our day was everything we dreamed it would be! It was the most perfect day! All of my bridesmaids traveled from across the country so I booked an Airbnb on the South Hill where everybody could stay. The Airbnb was where my makeup and hair artists came to help us get ready. We arrived at Beacon Hill and took all of the first look photos, bridal and groom party, and family photos before the ceremony which I’m so happy we did! The ceremony was perfect with my uncle officiating who also married my parents almost 40 years ago and my sister 2 years ago. After the ceremony, Cody and I took some golden hour photos just the two of us while our guests enjoyed a lovely cocktail hour. After that, it was time to party and enjoy the rest of the evening together!

What is your #1 tip to future brides?

The whole wedding planning process can feel very overwhelming and intimidating. I broke it down by booking all of my big vendors first. I did not realize how quickly vendors in this area book, especially the good ones. Once all the big things are booked, start thinking about what you want your vision to be and create a budget on how much you are willing to spend. People aren’t lying when they say it all adds up very quickly! Think about what you are willing to splurge a little more on than other things. For us, we were wanted a good photographer so that’s where a lot of our money went. Also, there are going to be so many opinions floating around from family members, friends, and random people who like to tell you all about their wedding experience (even though you never asked). Try not to let the other opinions affect you and your decision-making. At the end of the day, it is you and your future husband's most important day of your life and your wedding day should be the best day of your life! Lastly, enjoy the process! It is very stressful, but it is also such an exciting and happy time!
